there is something very REAL about building your own instrument. The connection you have to it is quite palpable. Totally adds to the creative juices when using it. I just finished building my very 1st synth kits, electronic kits, ever. Totally new to electronic kit building and started with Paia, because a friend suggested that they would be the best for a beginner . I am sooo totally hooked. Scott has been absolutely the best with helping me along the way. 1st assembled the new noise module, then the balanced modulator, and just finished the 9771-15 power supply. The power supply was the biggest part count / most complex thing I've ever tackled, but it is working exactly as described in the manual (knocking on wood) I was a bit hesitant to plug in the power supply, the 1st time, so I ran an extension out to the front porch, closed the glass storm door and stood inside when 1st turning it on...
works perfectly. I got headers and cable parts from mouser, to make proper power cables / connections for each module, and it works like a charm!. can you tell I'm excited..
I've been tweaking on the balanced modulator for the past bit, with the input and mod input being fed by the noise module...yeah man...cool sounds.
Can't say enough positive things about my paia experience so far..absolutely totally hooked and happy....now to buy some more modules..
Oh, I'll put up some a link to some of the build in progress photos soon.
