Re: Engines of Ingenuity link

That's me :).

I'm thrilled to hear that you like the new 9700 stuff! The balanced modulator is my favorite of the new modules. The ability to unbalance the modulator sounds really powerful with the right musical intervals (fourths, fifths and octaves especially).

Re: Balanced Modulator...

I understand the Null Mod, but the Null control on my 9748 appears to do nothing... Anyone have some insight into this? There is a trick to tuning these knobs in properly. You can start by centering both knobs, applying a signal to just one input and tuning the other one until the sound dissappears...

Re: Engines of Ingenuity link

Hey hey, nobody here is dissing digital! The people who talk down on digital tend to not know what they are talking about anyways.

Re: Engines of Ingenuity link

I'll have to read through those. I own a book with the same title, I think it's the same author.

Re: New member, with a vintage PAiA Stringz'n'Thingz

Completely off topic but my dad has quite the collection of old calculators as well as slide rules. I've forgotten how to use a slide rule but I wish I would have been able to use one for the IEEE design competition a friend and I won this last weekend. Everybody came in with all sorts of books, gra...

Re: Feedback Wanted - New Module Proposal

I like this new module idea! Mine and Brad's research showed that every Frac sized module used 0-10V as a CV standard, at least the two big ones (Doepfer and Blacet). Instead of "fighting" them by sticking to a 0-5V CV setup, we were trying to encourage interoperability between our stuff and theirs....

The Oz is a fun one, I've spent hours at the PAiA offices playing the one we have and have used it quite a bit during design and testing of the new 9700 stuff. It's simple and has a lot of "flaws" but that IMO is what makes it so special, plus the keyboard itself feels great. Like Brad said, we woul...

Re: Soldering components in parallel

I always thought the paralleled output capacitor trick was kinda pointless. I agree that upgrading the output caps to a higher quality cap works wonders but that 0.1uF cap really isn't going to have an audible effect when it's swamped out by a 10uF cap. The best thing to do IMO is to simply replace ...
