Re: paia 2720 cap replacement

Thank you for all the suggestions. I ordered most the parts we've talked about from Mouser today. I'll try to 10K pot in place of R8, I likely have one around. Did I get you right to mean the pulse pot should always work? ie Should always affect the pulse signal? I ask because mine only seems to mak...

Re: paia 2720 cap replacement

Thanks for the advice Billb I'll skip replacing the other caps and concentrate on R8 and C1, then. Why did you go through so many .1 caps? Are some better than others? Looks like C1 should be a mylar .1 mfd but R8 is not listed. What is the value of R8? The owners manual states "R8 should be matched...

Re: Basic building block question

Thanks alot Scott,

Your advice gives me confidence in my build.

I know it may be a little off subject but what does 1 amp at 24 volts turn into in VA.

I think this is a common point of confusion for many DIYers.

Best regards.

Re: Basic building block question

Thanks Scott,

I think there must be voltage drop across the kit I am not considering, that's why you recommend the 161H34 and not the 161H24.

Also if I were to use the 161 series, I assume tying pins 4 and 5 together as ground leaving pin 3 as +, leaving pin 6 as -.

Basic building block question

Just bought Kit 83, Universal dual polarity 1 amp power supply, and even though writing that seems to answer my question, reassurance would be good. Directions state a 7VA transformer with center tap should be used for the AC side. So I'm thinking a 120 VAC input, to +/-12 VAC with center tap out at...

Re: Paia 2700 midi implant

No fault of the midi implant. I had some grounding issues. The form factor of the midi implant is so tiny, it could fit anywhere. I still recommend it, but it is proprietary so don't expect schems or anything. One more thing to note is that it only drives 2 parameters, so like cv and velocity. But t...

Re: Paia 2700 midi implant

Well I finally blew up my midi implant. I'm thinking of a work around. I still have a midi to cv converter kit, the midivox, but it doesn't put out exponential pitch control voltage, it's linear. If I ran it through the Paia 9756K might it track pitch correctly? I've come across some web claims whic...

Re: Paia 2700 midi implant

Well wiring was the problem but since I got past that last week I really have enjoyed being able to run midi into the 2700. Tuning to other synths was a little harder than I thought it would be as I think I need to consider the limits of the 2700 oscillators themselves but it can and was done. Midi ...
