Really nice looking instrument.
sorry I cant help you with your questions.
a thought. flashing eeproms is pretty easy these days, especially with hotflashing old motherboards.
would it be possible to use an eeprom instead of an eprom?

4771
I have just acquired a 4771 regulated p/s. I was suprised that it is'nt capable of producing 18 volts. Is this a problem? (I'm guessing its not) should I add an additional transformer that will produce 18 volts? what is the lowest voltage that will work on the "18 volt" output? I'm thinking of putin...

Re: Cap replacement - off topic
I think it would be prudent to replace all the tantalums to prevent future 'tantrums'
since shorted caps tend to blow power supplies I think it makes sense

Cap replacement - off topic
I was wondering what is a suitable replacement for tantalum caps on old synths etc. mostly they are 10uf or 1uf. I replaced the 10s with electrolytic and am thinking of using monolithic ceramic caps for the 1's as they are about the same size and lead spacing. these caps are all power supply related...

Re: Replacing electrolytic capacitors in vintage PAIA products
More important than replacing electrolytics is replacing tantalum caps. old tantalums short out and will kill power supplies. I am working on a yamaha CS-40m which had a dead P/S and shorted tantalums on several of the boards. got the p/s working but there is other damage among the 12 or so boards t...

Re: dead Korg DW8000
I have removed the blown chips but now find that the board draws 1.4 amps on the first 5v line (whereas it should draw 700ma).
any suggestions on how to find which other chips are faulty.

6750 hyperflange/choorus
I have one of these with no chips in it
the cem3040 is expensive but not as bad as the sad1024.
any suggestions on whether this can be used for anything without spending $200 on chips?
thanks.

Re: Cable construction for CV's in and out of the 9700?
there needs to be one ground connection between devices. for another external device ie. another synth you should use a grounded connection. if both devices use a 3 prong plug there is a chance they are already ground connected. for connections between modules within the device you dont need it as t...

Fatman panel update
here is the current state of my Fatman. everything on the panel works (finally). https://www.flickr.com/photos/129435558@N05/15935842520/ I still have osc1 and osc2 syncing up way too much even though I changed to LEDS and 7555s. it actually is worse with the 7555s so I put the original 555s back in...
