 Paia 9700 midi2cv8 question
Okay, so i started placing the components on my 9700k midi2cv8 circuit board that arrived with my newly received 9700 kit. Now, as I was placing the capacitors on the board, I could NOT find the 502 (.005uf) ceramic cap that was suppose to be included, instead I received a 472 (.0047uf). Will this work just as well?

 Re: Paia 9700 midi2cv8 question
Hello James.
Yes, the 472 marked 0.0047uF capacitor is a functional equivalent and substitute for the 502 marked 0.005uF. The significant digits 47 are the ones being used in place of 50 by mfgrs. of capacitors. Another one like this is 473/503 for the 0.047uF/0.05uF, and, 4.7 for 5 pF. nF is showing up more often too. pF is the value times 10 to the minus 12. nF is the value times 10 to the minus 9. uF is the value times 10 to the -6.
0.0047 microFarad can be represented in picoFarads or nanoFarads.
4700 picoFarads
4n7 or 4.7 nanoFarads
Shifting from one to the other can save having to use a tiny decimal point on a tiny part or schematic.
The difference between a 0.0047 and a 0.005 is within the typical tolerance of the parts.
Thanks.
