9720 glide output mod

Post by stevebryson »

Hi Folks - I just finished the 9720 VCO module, and with Scott's guidance I added a glide output jack. This is useful for making the filter cutoff frequency glide with the oscillators or for controlling external unison oscillators, to name a couple examples.

I get the glide signal from the J5 X lug (where the glide output comes from the board at X), adding a wire from J5 X to the T lug of the new jack. The new jack is below and to the right of the glide pot, almost below the norm/lfo swtitch. The new jack is grounded to the ground wire coming from the norm/lfo switch.

Here's the front panel with the new jack:

and here are two views of how it is wired up (excuse the wire labels):

It works like a charm, though if I did it again I'd move the jack a couple centimeters to the left. I expect this to be a very useful mod as my modular system grows.

Happy New Year!

What a cool idea. I suppose since the norm/lfo switch doesn't drop the freq as advertised, you could replace the switch with a jack. Hmmm...

I'm just waiting for the 9700 slew/lag module to come out!

Thanks, Kyhotay. The norm/lfo switch works for me, so I wouldn't want to lose that switch. Plenty of room for the new jack and drilling the panel isn't difficult.

I don't know why there isn't a slew/lag module. If you ask Scott nicely he'll send you a nice diagram of how to build your own.

I do have that schematic. But I am lazy and it's hard to see up close so DIY is out for me!
